Cyberhawk approved to fly UAVs in congested areas by the CAA

17 Jul 2015

Cyberhawk is delighted to announce that it has been approved to fly UAVs in congested areas by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), making it one of the first companies in the UK to achieve this status.

Our approval under the CAA Congested Area Operations Safety Case (CAOSC) allows us to fly in congested urban areas to within 10m of vehicles, structures and people not under our control. The permission will enable us to carry out many projects that were previously prohibited by the standard CAA permissions.

In order to gain the CAOSC approval we had to submit detailed safety procedures, risk mitigation and safety records. We have already undertaken a number of CAOSC projects including rail and transmission tower infrastructure inspections and surveys. We believe that this approval will prove to be a huge benefit to our clients within the Rail, Utilities and Construction sectors.

Together with our recent National Qualified Entity (NQE) status approval, this further strengthens our position as the UK’s leading aerial inspection and survey company.
