Cyberhawk shortlisted at UK Rail Industry Awards!

17 Nov 2015

Cyberhawk Innovations has been named as a finalist in the ‘Service Innovation’ category at this year’s UK Rail Industry Awards.

The world leader in Remotely Operated Aerial Vehicles (ROAV), otherwise known as UAVs or drones, is not only a pioneer in the use of ROAVs for inspection and survey in the rail sector, but is also leading the way in converting data captured into powerful asset information, used to inform strategic asset management decisions.

This finalist announcement follows Cyberhawk being awarded a framework agreement with Network Rail in December 2014, to provide ROAV services including overhead line equipment (OLE) inspection, structural inspections and land survey data.

Cyberhawk’s ROAV service has not only been recognised for its significant cost and time savings, but also for minimising safety risks posed to personnel by removing trackside working.

iHAWK, Cyberhawk’s proprietary cloud-based asset management software, is also a key part in the company’s service offering. iHAWK delivers the valuable inspection information captured by ROAVs through a map based interface, using a traffic light system to indicate the status of assets. The software enables findings to be ‘drilled into’, with high definition images and inspection commentary easily accessible.

Phil Buchan, commercial director at Cyberhawk, said: “We are delighted to be named as a finalist at these highly prestigious industry awards. As a company which is driven by innovation, and committed to providing the highest quality service to our customers, this award is testament to the tireless efforts of our team.”

Cyberhawk is headquartered in Livingston, Scotland, with further bases in the Middle East and SE Asia. The company carried out the very first ROAV industrial inspection in 2010 and since then, has completed more than 25 world firsts, with blue-chip customers in more than 20 countries on four continents. As well as rail, Cyberhawk also operates in the renewables, utilities and onshore and offshore oil and gas sectors.

The winners of the 2016 UK Rail Industry Awards will be announced at a black tie ceremony on 11 February, 2016, at Battersea Evolution in London. Find out more about the awards here.
