Cyberhawk to ramp up international business

Partnership opportunities available within the global electricity utilities market

Cyberhawk Innovations, the world leader in aerial inspection using Remotely Operated Aerial Vehicles (ROAV) and the conversion of drone-captured data into powerful asset management information, has today announced a partnership opportunity that brings its game-changing solution for powerline inspection to the international utilities market.

The new business opportunity offered by Cyberhawk, known as an Asset Management Partnership (AMP), is available to utility companies and proven service providers to the utilities sector (including ROAV, UAV or drone service providers) that are looking to deliver a step improvement in powerline asset management and safe operating practice.

AMP companies will have access to Cyberhawk’s world-leading engineering consultancy, inspection design and inspection centre, which together deliver a dramatic improvement to the traditional ‘book of photographs’ approach that is prevalent in the industry. Cyberhawk’s approach turns image-based data into powerful, consistent asset information that is intuitively accessible in the cloud.

iHAWK, Cyberhawk’s proprietary asset management software, is key to the delivery of the asset management information. iHAWK allows users to intuitively access the valuable inspection information captured by ROAVs using a simple map based interface. Asset status is clearly shown using a traffic light system, which enables findings to be “drilled into” and high definition images and commentary viewed. iHAWK also accommodates data from other sources including rope access, helicopter and land-based inspections, giving clients a comprehensive, standardised picture of their full asset portfolio, tailored to their specific requirements.

As part of AMP, Cyberhawk will also provide equipment, pilot training and aviation support to partners as required.

Headquartered in Livingston, Scotland, and with bases in the Middle East and SE Asia, Cyberhawk carried out the very first ROAV industrial inspection in 2010 and since then, has completed 25 world firsts to date, with blue-chip customers in more than 20 countries on four continents.

Craig Roberts, CEO at Cyberhawk, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for potential partners all around the world who are interested in delivering our cutting edge solution to their local utilities market. Partners have the chance to strengthen collaboration with their clients or improve their asset management offering by providing them with a world-leading, proven and low risk solution for OHL inspection.

“This is a rare opportunity for companies operating in the utilities sector to extend their offering without incurring the usual cost and time investment. By combining the local knowledge and on-the-ground capabilities of partners with our engineering and inspection expertise and market leading software, we have the chance to embark upon a step change in asset management, taking aerial data collection and management to a new level.”

Cyberhawk’s OHL solution has already been adopted by a number of electricity utility companies with positive feedback. Andy Adams, transmission project manager at FTSE100 listed SSE, commented: “Cyberhawk’s inspection technology and engineering expertise gives us precise details of the state of all components in our transmission systems. The imagery and interpretation provided mean that we have visual documentation and highly accurate analysis relating to the condition of assets. It has been easier and faster to use Cyberhawk’s iHAWK software to work with the data, compared to our usual approach.”
