Cyberhawk partnered with ConocoPhillips in May 2018 to complete a drone tank inspection proof of concept. The operator's aim across the business is to use drones to save time and money while reducing risks to the company’s people and property.
The project saw Cyberhawk inspect 19 tanks on the Polar Discovery vessel in just 16 days - a huge time saving compared with the typical seven days taken to stage and inspect a tank.
Cyberhawk returned in September to complete further drone tank inspections on the Polar Resolution.
John Strebel, ConocoPhillips Engineering Superintended, said: “Both pilots were highly capable, and we increased efficiency while decreasing inspection time by operating two drones simultaneously."
