Cyberhawk shortlisted for Offshore Achievement Awards

12 Jan 2016

Cyberhawk Innovations is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted for this year’s Offshore Achievement Awards, in the Safety Innovations category.

The world leader in Remotely Operated Aerial Vehicles (ROAV), otherwise known as UAVs or drones, continues to pioneer the use of this technology for inspection and survey. Cyberhawk has been shortlisted for this year’s awards in recognition of its innovative approach, which significantly contributes to offshore safety by minimising risks posed to personnel.

Using ROAVs to conduct close up inspections in live or difficult to reach places, Cyberhawk mobilises a two-man team, comprising a pilot and an inspection engineer, who send drones into the air to carry out inspection activity, minimising the physical requirement for personnel to work at height.

Philip Buchan, commercial director at Cyberhawk said: “We are delighted to be nominated for this prestigious industry award, which is testament to our skilled and committed team.

“Cyberhawk conducted the very first ROAV industrial inspection in 2010 and since then, has built up an unrivalled track record in oil and gas. Following the launch of a new wind turbine inspection service last year, we hope to see this success replicated within the renewables sector.

“The safety benefits and efficiencies which ROAVs bring to the offshore energy sector are huge, with cost savings into millions of pounds available. We are pleased to have these benefits recognised by the industry, and look forward to the ceremony in March.”

Cyberhawk is headquartered in Livingston, Scotland, with further bases in the Middle East and SE Asia. The company has completed more than 25 world firsts, with blue-chip customers in more than 20 countries on four continents. As well as renewables and onshore and offshore oil and gas, Cyberhawk also operates in the utilities and rail sectors.

Now it its 30th year, the Offshore Achievement Awards recognises the triumphs and success across the UK offshore industry. Winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday 17 March, at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
