Yesterday at the Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine, off the coast of Fife, Cyberhawk COO Phil Buchan met with Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak.

The event was developed in partnership with ORE Catapult - the UK’s leading technology, innovation, and research center for offshore renewable energy.

Its purpose was to demonstrate the need for future investment from the UK Government in companies that present tangible solutions to the challenges that our rapidly shifting climate present and showcase the substantial economic benefit that would undoubtedly result if those companies were to receive further funding.

As part of the demonstration, we used one of our trusty Falcon 8s to show Mr. Sunak a complete drone-based wind turbine blade inspection.

It is standard industry knowledge that drone inspections of assets are cheaper, faster, greener, and, most importantly, safer than traditional means.

Mr. Sunak was very impressed with the Cyberhawk story, our international expansion, our development of young people, and our innovative inspection services that bring so many different benefits.

On our meet, he said: “Harnessing innovative new technologies will be crucial to help the UK meet its climate goals and shape our economy for the future. It is brilliant to see ORE Catapult’s Demonstration Turbine helping companies to commercialize their ideas and boosting green industries in Scotland, particularly as we prepare to host COP26 in Glasgow later this year.”
